Hi everyone and happy Monday!

Things have sure been busy here in Texas recently and when we are not busy we’ve been out of town.  Recently we took a lovely trip to Virginia to meet up with a good blogging friend of mine, Tonya, from Fourth Generation Farm Girl.  So here’s a little peek at our adventure 🙂

About a year and a half ago I came across the lovely blog Fourth Generation Farm Girl.  I started reading through her about page and some of her recipes and realized we had many things in common.  I quickly followed her site and soon after we became good friends.  This past April she invited us out to her beautiful farm and last weekend we flew out to Virginia to meet Tonya and her husband.

imageTonya and her husband were gracious hosts and invited us to stay in their beautifully restored cottage next to their farm-house that dates back from the mid-1700. They did a fantastic job restoring this old cottage and  I was totally in love with the kitchen…

It was so fun to finally meet Tonya and her husband…..

They took us on a tour across Virginia towards Charlottesville and we stopped at a few wineries along the way…. Our first stop was Trump Winery (yes THAT TRUMP) which had several tasty wines including a very nice sparkling wine.

This is a good friend of Tonya’s Gabriele Rausse and he is considered to be the father of the Virginia wine industry.

All of Gabriele’s wine were delicious with the Cabernet Franc and Nebbiolo being some of my favorites…. I had a few bottles shipped home 🙂

We also took in a little history at Monticello this historic home of Thomas Jefferson and we visited the National D-Day Memorial in the town of Bedford Virginia.

It was a wonderful weekend in the beautiful Virginia countryside and one we will remember always.  Thanks again Farm Girl and Farm Guy for opening up your home to us, for all the lovely meals, and for all the great conversations!!!

      I love reading Tonya’s blog too.
      The love she had for life and animals shows in everything she does. She is a remarkable person. I hope you get to meet her someday and visit their beautiful home in Virginia.

  5. Oh wow you got to meet Tonya and her husband and see that grand house! That is so awesome. I only recently started following her blog but have seen the recent posts on the renovations. Amazing work they have done, isn’t it??
